Reimagine 47th Place
The YARD & Company team including Bike Walk KC and Trekk Design Group worked with the City of Westwood and the Mid-American Regional Council to engage stakeholders in reimagining the future of 47th Place. Today, the street performs dual functions as a primary through street, connecting two major corridors, while housing a growing set of destinations and residences that promote cyclist and pedestrian uses. The 5-month project to develop a complete street plan involved project branding and a communications strategy, a stakeholder engagement plan, the development of concept scenarios, and a three day demonstration of design tactics followed by a celebratory and experimental street festival. The momentum established by the event along with the resulting plans and renderings will be leveraged by the City to secure implementation funding.
