YARD & Company developed a new space rental venture, The Garage, to meet new demands for work, gathering and creative retail experiences.

Here is why we did it:

The market has changed

Work is now all about flexibility and a more dynamic connection between work and home has formed. Employees, even after COVID 19, are in no rush to regularly get back to the office or its commute, but they do need to get out of the house and into the neighborhood from time to time. Employers are realizing significant savings by keeping employees virtual and stand to do even better once legacy costs like leases expire, but they still need to get teams together, build company culture and attract talent. CoWorking was one step towards meeting these needs, but it is still built mostly on the extended lease model of large standard commercial buildings.

Event spaces are now, more than ever, needed to fill the space between work and home life. Events are becoming more diverse, cultural and wide ranging. More than just receptions, today they are used to build community, test retail concepts, develop team culture and, yes, celebrate life together. The traditional reception hall or event center is often clunky to interact with, expensive and not flexible enough to meet these new needs.

Work, events and commerce have become more local to where we live, connected to our communities, uniquely tailored and on-demand. Both as a space and a platform, the Garage meets these needs through a no fuss, easy-to-book and customizable user experience.

The Garage is a launch pad

The Garage is a fully operational and replicable prototype. Soon, the region could have dozens of these spaces, either as corporately controlled and branded for their employees or as bookable venues for work, events and retail open to the general public. Contact us to learn more, schedule a tour or ask how we can help bring this concept to your company or community.
